Atelier Bow-Wow is an architect group in Japan. In spite of their philosophy, they designed Miyashita NIKE Park and became a party to exclude homeless people and the others. Their design makes the Miyashita Park gentrified as a restricted sports park. Up to the last week, their works had been exhibited in the National Museum of Modern... Art, Tokyo, named "Where is Architecture?". Where is (their philosophy of) Architecture? You will find it out in comparison of their following text and this video.

The Funeral Parade for 30,000 Suicides was held on 28 March in Tokyo, Japan.
More than 30,000 people kill themselves every year in Japan. Ichimura says like this;
"Things happening in Japan, such as a public park is changing into NIKE park, that make us feel like killing ourselves. We don't want any more commercial spaces. Don't rip off our common spaces!"

"A.I.R(=Artist in Residence) Miyashita Park" project aims to make people's park by themselves through staying & making works in Miyashita Park.

Their first A.I.R project was done during 15-17 March. On 17, The artists made their own clothes in the park, and then they performed "No Nike Fashion Show" in front of NIKE Harajuku store.

Their statement & schedule & contact are as follows.

"A.I.R(=Artist in Residence) Miyashita Park" project aims to make people's park by themselves through staying & making works in Miyashita Park.

Their first A.I.R project was done during 15-17 March. On 16, Shibuya Ward officers tried to blockade the northern part of the park. The one of the entrances was closed by fences temporarily, but the artists, residents of the park, supporters stopped them finally.

On October 24, NIKE Japan held the HUMAN RACE 10km 2009 in Tokyo. On the other hand, NIKE proceeds to kick out homeless people who live in Miyashita Park. The enterprise has two faces.

On September 27, the demonstration took place for protesting against the privatization of Miyashita Park and exclusion of homeless people in Tokyo.

The signing ceremony about the naming rights contract of Miyashita Park was performed behind closed door between NIKE Corporation and Shibuya Ward at Shibuya Ward office at about 4:00 p.m. on August 27.

In the protection of Shibuya Ward staff and Nike Japan employee, The President at NIKE Japan kept complete silence to questions of ctizens, then he left the ward office. As for "the written inquiry" of citizens, NIKE refused even the receipt of the written inquiry.
